What is hypnosis?
Therapeutic hypnosis is a technique that involves leading the client into a deep state of relaxation to communicate with their unconscious level thoughts and beliefs. People often find therapeutic hypnosis deeply relaxing.
Although therapeutic hypnosis is an exceptional state to be in, we actually put ourselves into a type of hypnosis, or trance, naturally on a daily basis. Watch this video to find out more:
In fact when we find ourselves responding in ways that we don’t want to, such as when we experience phobias, loss of confidence, anger, frustration or anxiety, we are acting from a trance like state in which our unconscious, rather than our conscious mind, is calling the shots. Using hypnosis as a therapy tool helps us to access that same state, and to make changes to the way our unconscious mind responds to the things we feel, see, hear and smell around us.
Why Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive hypnotherapy takes the powerful aspects of hypnotherapy, and combines these with techniques used in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Technique (or tapping), and Gestalt, amongst others, to help clients to move towards the solutions they want. We accelerate the effect of these techniques through the use of 'Wordweaving'™, a technique developed by Trevor Silvestor himself to use nuances in the client's own language, and their unique references for viewing the world, to speak to their unconscious mind.
In cognitive hypnotherapy the techniques used are tailored towards your unique experiences. We believe that whatever it is you want to take control of, has come about because of a culmination of experiences through which your unconscious mind has developed rules to direct your responses (fear, anger, stress, unwanted habits) to what is happening around you in a certain way.
Uncovering these learned responses can just mean having a conversation or using the simple techniques mentioned above that help us communicate with the unconscious directly. Whatever it is that is holding you back…we will look at the best ways to help you take a positive step towards the 'you' you want to be.
